BEJ Opens Submissions and Announces Editorial Developments

The Bocconi Economic Journal (BEJ) is pleased to announce the opening of submissions for its next issue, alongside several key updates to its editorial structure. Following the publication of our first issue earlier this month, the Journal is moving into a new stage of growth with a strengthened Editorial Board and new opportunities for students to join the team.

Call for Submissions

BEJ is now accepting manuscripts on a rolling basis, giving early submissions a higher likelihood of consideration. The Journal’s updated editorial policy outlines the full review process, which includes desk review, double-blind peer evaluation, editorial assessment, and final faculty approval. Students interested in contributing to the next issue can find all details and guidelines on the Submit page.

New Editorial Board

As part of this new phase, BEJ has appointed its 2025 Editorial Board, bringing together students with diverse research interests and experience. The Board continues to be led by Roberto Fani, Founder and Editor of the Journal. Roberto founded BEJ in 2024 and has served as Editor since then. He is a MSc student in Economic and Social Sciences, with primary research interests in labor economics and, more broadly, applied microeconomics. He is also a Research Fellow at the Social Economics Lab at Harvard University and a Visiting Student at IGIER.

The editorial team is joined by four Co-Editors. Sofia Brunetti, who joined BEJ in 2024 as an Associate Editor, is a MSc student in Economic and Social Sciences at Bocconi University. Her primary research interest is macroeconomics, and she has conducted research at Bocconi University and the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia on fiscal macroeconomics and macroeconomic theory. Federico Casotto, who participated in the founding of BEJ and has served as Co-Editor since 2024, is a MSc student in Economic and Social Sciences. His main research interest is labor economics, and he is currently a Visiting Student at IGIER. Francesco Doga, previously an Associate Editor, is a MSc student in Economic and Social Sciences with a primary research interest in political economics. He is also a Visiting Student at IGIER. Finally, Federico Pepe, who also joined BEJ as an Associate Editor in 2024, is a MSc student in Economic and Social Sciences with a primary research interest in applied microeconomics. He is likewise a Visiting Student at IGIER.

Together, the Board brings research expertise across main areas in economis, supporting the Journal’s aim of providing rigorous, high-quality student research.

Join the Editorial Team

To accompany these developments, BEJ is opening applications for new Associate Editors. The position is available to Bocconi students in their third year of a BSc program or enrolled in an MSc program who have a strong interest in economics and in contributing to the Journal’s editorial work. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to complete an editorial exercise as part of the selection process. Applications can be submitted from the Team page.

With submissions now open, a renewed Editorial Board, and opportunities for students to join the team, BEJ looks forward to building on the momentum of its first issue and continuing to foster a vibrant research community at Bocconi University.
